I bet you’ll never guess what these men are doing. Talk about lying down on the job! And why do they have dogs snuggled on their backs?
Here’s a hint: the workshop is situated directly above a river in the town of Thiers in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the Auvergne region of central France.
Stay tuned for the answer (unless someone can provide the answer to this mystery photo …)
Wow. That is one odd photo. A workshop situated above a river. A water-powered paper mill? Although what they are doing I can’t imagine.
It’s a river-powered carding mill and the men are combing or cleaning the wool sheared from their sheep.
Good guess, but that’s not it!
are they looking for drowning victims and the dogs will help in the rescue?
A gristmill or sawmill? Something to do with grain or lumber?
