They’re smiling. They were completely unaware of the horrors that awaited them.I think this might be Roman Polanski as a child (with his father) when they were interned in the Krakow ghetto. Polanski, who lives in Paris, oversaw the selection of ghetto photographs for this current exhibition. His mother was killed in Auschwitz.
Thank you for posting this. It is so easy for the world to forget especially with the number of living survivors dwindling down, leaving no one to tell the story first hand.
