off to Antwerp

Years ago – in December 2013 to be exact – I went to Antwerp and loved it. So I have now decided to return. From Paris it’s a 2-hour journey on the Thalys train. If you book well in advance the fares are reasonable, even in First Class.

I love train travel. (Ha! When they run on time, that is!)

Antwerp, a port city located in the north and not far from the Dutch border, has been called Belgium’s hippest small city.

Here’s a good travel article entitled ‘I took the train to Antwerp’ –

  1. Totally agree about Antwerp. We spent two days there after a bike and barge trip several years ago and we’re very impressed. Loved the energy. Definitely plan to return. Check out Beer Central and the Red Line Museum.

    • The Red Line Museum is on my list of things to see. Beer Central don’t know about, will check it out. I like Belgian beer. Thanks!

    • Thank you so much, Sandra!
I must admit that it was not easy to get here: delayed departure in Paris followed by the train breaking down. We had to disembark at Brussels and wait for a replacement train. Arrived late in the rain. Luckily, hotel very nice, warm and welcoming. I’m about to go out now and explore.
      Best holiday wishes,
      Juliet
