Years ago – in December 2013 to be exact – I went to Antwerp and loved it. So I have now decided to return. From Paris it’s a 2-hour journey on the Thalys train. If you book well in advance the fares are reasonable, even in First Class.
I love train travel. (Ha! When they run on time, that is!)
Antwerp, a port city located in the north and not far from the Dutch border, has been called Belgium’s hippest small city.
Here’s a good travel article entitled ‘I took the train to Antwerp’ –

Have a great time in Antwerp.
Thanks, Don. I plan on eating lots of chocolate.
I wish you a joyous Christmas filled with much love and happiness.
Bon voyage, Juju!
Thanks, Cordy! See you soon. 🙂
Totally agree about Antwerp. We spent two days there after a bike and barge trip several years ago and we’re very impressed. Loved the energy. Definitely plan to return. Check out Beer Central and the Red Line Museum.
The Red Line Museum is on my list of things to see. Beer Central don’t know about, will check it out. I like Belgian beer. Thanks!
Welcome in Antwerp!
Thank you so much, Sandra!
I must admit that it was not easy to get here: delayed departure in Paris followed by the train breaking down. We had to disembark at Brussels and wait for a replacement train. Arrived late in the rain. Luckily, hotel very nice, warm and welcoming. I’m about to go out now and explore.
Best holiday wishes,
Juliet
