New York, Capital of the World – a documentary film.

I stumbled across this gem of a documentary film on You Tube while searching for footage of the Brooklyn Bridge.  It is, hands down, the most edifying and historically interesting film on the origins of a city that I have ever seen.  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.  It comes in 8 parts and spans decades/centuries.  This one is entitled The Power and the People.

  2. This is indeed a fascinating series on how the island of Manhattan came into being as a result of successive waves of immigration, etc. Thanks for this, I thoroughly enjoyed all of the films. They should show this in schools.
