The origin of the name Chastain is Old French and castan means “chestnut tree”. How fitting, then, that she starred in Malick’s The Tree of Life.

I’m looking forward to seeing her in A Most Violent Year. Has anyone seen it? If so, do you recommend it?

  1. I can’t wait to see this film. The reviews are really good. Here’s the beginning of The Telegraph review –

And not just a most violent year, either: the most violent year. The third film by J. C. Chandor, who wrote and directed Margin Call and All Is Lost, is a neck-prickling moral thriller set in New York City, 1981: statistically speaking, the deadliest 12 months in the city’s history, and no time to make a respectable living. In the District Attorney’s office, murder and corruption cases pile up on desks like the grey snow that collects in the alleyways outside. From the shores of Brooklyn, you can just about see Manhattan in the distance, the skyline of the financial district lead-blue and gleaming, the twin towers of the World Trade Center looming large.
