The chattering classes here in Paris (journalists and political commentators) are talking about a “luminous” article written in The New Yorker called The Unconnected. It’s also titled Hillary Clinton and the Populist Revolt. Written by staff writer, George Packard, it analyzes, among other things, the weakening faith in American institutions and leaders, and why downwardly mobile white Americans support Donald Trump.
I figured if Parisian press people, normally scathing and hyper-critical, are giving a nod to this article and calling it “luminous”, it must be really good. Here it is –
